Sue Cliffel practices in the firm’s litigation and bankruptcy departments. Her practice is focused in creditor rights and business litigation with an emphasis on bankruptcy and collections. She advises and represents financial institutions in negotiation and litigation under the United States Bankruptcy Code, and the Uniform Commercial Code, including Articles 2A, 3, 4, and 9. Sue also represents companies in the construction and building materials industries with respect to mechanics liens rights and litigation. She is licensed to practice in Ohio state and federal courts.
Sue is a graduate of Cornell University and the Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University. While in law school, she served as the issue planning editor for the Ohio State Journal of Dispute Resolution. Sue has served as collection counsel for a nationwide equipment leasing corporation for seven years. During that time, she has litigated hundreds of cases to resolution across the state of Ohio and the United States. In addition, Sue has previously served as Special Counsel to the State of Ohio Office of the Attorney General. She is a frequent speaker at seminars on creditor rights and bankruptcy.
Sue lives in Anderson with her husband, Al, and two sons. She serves as a Parent Administrator for the Kings Hammer Academy soccer club. In addition, she is a member of the Board of Directors for the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
